Chavismo
Hugo Chávez’s ideology of twenty-first century socialism. Though not precisely defined, Chavismo tended to include a populist focus on providing social and economic benefits to the masses, as well as anti-corporate and anti-American sentiments. Chávez also emphasized popular political participation, though in practice he sought to strengthen his personal political control.
