noncommunicable disease
a broad category of largely chronic diseases and conditions, such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes, that cannot themselves be spread from person to person. Noncommunicable diseases are often chronic conditions, such as cancer and diabetes, that are caused by genetic, physiological, environmental, or behavioral factors.
